Monthly Recap – January 2014

What’s going on

January is behind us already! First month of 2014 is done with already and we’re well on our way to warmer weather (which I am in some desperate need of). While I love snow, I hate the snowless weather that’s been pestering us Dutch people the past few months.

The perks of living in the Netherlands guys: Its cold and unbearably rainy in January. Which basically translates in one big fat guarantee for me to get sick. Which almost always happens, unfortunately this year as well. I got sick, fever-ish, felt absolutely crappy, and got stuck with a bad case of my throat feeling like sand-paper.

I’m better now, and plotting and scheming for things to come… I just love saying that! Though you probably have no idea what mean. So, let me lay it out for you: March 10th is my blog’s birthday! And not just a birthday, no the FIRST birthday! And I have so much fun things for you in store! Also, some awesome giveaways you don’t want to miss! I’m excited, I know you’ll be excited, so let’s party together on March 10th!

Favorite January Reads

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill

While these two reads were very amazingly goodEspecially Crown of Midnight! That book was every bit as epic as my friends had promised me! While I loved every single page of reading those two books, unfortunately, there were some other books that I didn’t really like.

I had to write 3 not-so-positive reviews, which I hated and after those 3 books I kinda lost my will to read for a little while. I think I was mostly dreading another bad book, so I stuck to the books I knew I would like. I read less than I planned to read and I am mostly disappointed in failing the goal I set for myself right away in January. So I’m getting out of my stupid slump starting with this post! If I haven’t posted another post tomorrow, you guys may spam me on Twitter until I do!

Stuck on Replay

I think it the music video for Unconditionally is absolutely beautiful *sigh*  it has this dark-fairy-tale-like quality about it and I can’t seem to stop listening to that song and stop watching that video!

I’m currently reading Throne of Glass and like it a lot. I think I will get Crown of Midnight right after. From what I heard it’s seems to be even better than the first one.

It is even better than the first one! I couldn’t believe it really, after reading Crown of Midnight I was just baffled. You’ll love it!

It’s currently sitting in my basket @ thebookdepository waiting to be ordered right when my book buying ban is over = end of February. Throne of Glass was SO good at the end, if Crown of Midnight is like that I’m 100% satisfied

Book Buying Ban… 0_o I probably wouldn’t survive that! Though I do put a limit on the amount of books I buy! haha

I usually go with a limit too but I’m part of a TBR challenge with monthly instructions on how to work on your tbr and this month’s is book buying ban :D
But then I remembered that thebookedpository still has the 10% coupon thing going so I ordered Crown of Midnight and already failed that one :D

Hahaha, Oh this made me laugh! Totally understandable though… I mean, its 10%!

I’m supposed to be reading Throne of Glass. I’m sure I’ll like it, but I’m just putting it off because I often get confused in epic fantasies. >_< I just read three 2-star books in a row, too! Gosh! It makes me feel SO bad as a reader/reviewer. Can't wait for these birthday celebrations! Woot! And that sucks getting sick. :( It's summer in Oz, but it's also the rainy season, so I know how being drowned out of your brains feels.

I know… I feel so bad thinking back to those 2 star reviews! I get this nasty feeling in the pit of my stomach whenever I think back to them.

Yay for the girls that are being drowned out of our brains… *sigh* I need some more less-rainy weather!

I am so excited for you to find out what I have in store for the celebrations! I’m super excited haha.

And go read Throne of Glass, that way you can move on to the awesomeness that is Crown of Midnight and fall in love like I did!

      Hug!

Throne of Glass is my next read, once I’ve finished The Geography of You and Me, so I’m glad to see you like Crown of Midnight too! I have to admit that I’m a bit scared. It’s got so much hype already, I don’t want to be the odd one out!

I know that feeling… all I can say is: just take the plunge! I hope it’ll be worth it and you’ll like it as much as I did.

I think the hype is very much deserved, because that second book just BLEW me away!
